CME Sends a Command to the BM

Refer to Figure 34-3 on page 996. Under some circumstances, the CME may need to send a message to the BM. As an example, the CME may detect the hot-install of an IBA module into the chassis. In this case, the CME would instruct the BMA to send a BMTrap(Notice) to the BM as an event notification.

1. The CME detects the hot-install of a module into one of the chassis slots.

2. The CME sends a message (in this example, a SendBMTrap) to the embedded switch's IB-ML Agent over its dedicated IB-ML channel.

3. The IB-ML Agent passes the message to the switch's MME.

4. The MME passes the message to the BMA.

5. Refer to Figure 34-7 on page 1016. The BMA formulates a BM request MAD with the following characteristics:
