IBA Global Address = IPv6 Address

The global IBA address that is used to address a CA port is compliant with the 128-bit address format defined in the IPv6 specification. It takes the basic format shown in Figure 8-3 on this page:

  • The upper 64 bits identifies the subnet within which the port resides. A detailed description of the subnet ID can be found in “Port's Subnet ID Assignment” on page 155.

  • The lower 64 bits uniquely identifies the port and is referred to as the port's Globally Unique ID (GUID). It consists of an identifier assigned by a central authority and guaranteed to be unique in the context of the universe.
