Port's Selection of SLID on Packet Transmit

When a QP's SQ Logic (for RC, UC, or UD), or an EEC's Send Logic (for RD) sends a packet to a local CA port's Link Layer for transmission, it supplies the Link Layer logic with a selector that chooses which of the port's assigned LID addresses is to be inserted into the outbound packet's LRH:SLID address field. This selector is supplied from:

  • The QP Context (for RC and UC).

  • The EEC (for RD).

  • Each WR (for UD) submitted to QP's SQ. The selector is one of the items contained in the Address Handle specified in the WR. For detailed information on UD Address Handles, refer to “Address Handles” on page 526.
