2. I cannot make any operation with the data contained in a column. What is happening?
Most probably the column data is in text format. A column is automatically assigned a text format when any cell contains text or a symbol different from * (missing value symbol).
When a column is in text format, it does not automatically change to a numeric format even though the text or symbols contained in the column are eliminated.
