Appendix 2: Managing Data

In many instances, managing the data to have it in an appropriate manner to carry out statistical analysis is a laborious task; sometimes more so than the analysis itself. Thus, it is important to develop skills in managing data and this is mainly achieved with practice, facing situations that once solved contribute to expand our baggage of resources – and even tricks – to use.

This appendix provides a general idea, using examples, of the three most common activities for managing data:

  • Copying columns with restrictions
  • Stacking and unstacking columns
  • Codifying and sorting data
