Content stores

Content stores, sometimes referred to as content repositories, are designed to manage various digital content (for example, text, pictures or videos, including metadata).

For queries, such databases mostly use SQL or XPath. Other features include the following:

  • Full-text search
  • Versioning
  • Hierarchical structuring of content

Examples of content stores are Jackrabbit and ModeShape.
