Edge computing for the IoT

The promise of edge computing is that most processing will be done on the edge and only data that really needs to be sent to the cloud will be transported. This requires low-powered devices having adequate processing power to run AI and advanced analytics on real-time data as its collected. These will be the focus of attention for a number of IIoT companies as only then will they be able to successfully leverage the power of the IoT. Dumb edge devices will need to be smarter handling most of the processing and filtering of data to be further transported to the cloud.
