S7 communication and the stop CPU vulnerability

Not directly part of the PROFINET standard but often used in the same area of a plant or on the same ICS network is the S7comm protocol. S7comm (known as S7 Communication) is a Siemens proprietary protocol that allows communication between Programmable Logic Controllers at or a PLC and a programming Terminal. It is used to facilitate the programming of a PLC, communication between several PLCs, or communication between a SCADA (known as Supervisory control and data acquisition) system and PLCs. The S7comm protocol runs on top of COTP (known as Connection Oriented Transport Protocol), which is the connection transport protocol of the ISO protocol family.
