Most polyethylene resins are thermoplastic but some grades are cross-linkable.

5.3.1. Renewable Polyethylene

Braskem and Sabic use two different ways for the production of biopolyethylene: dehydration of ethanol coming from sugar cane, on the one hand and thermal treatment of waste fats and oils that are not in direct competition with the food chain.
Braskem inaugurated one of the largest ethylene-from-ethanol plant that will enable the production of 200,000 tonnes of green polyethylene per year (I’m green™ Polyethylene).
