Abstract
Predictions (up to 2100) of global population growth and gross domestic product per capita should lead to higher industrial activity, depletion of resources, consumption of energy, and pollution. Our earth being an isolated system, except for sun energy, it is essential to preserve the indispensable needs of future generations during a maximum time. That has led to genesis and growth of renewable plastics. Pros and cons of oil-sourced plastics and renewable ones coming from recycling, natural polymers, and natural monomers or oligomers are reviewed. Special tests and certification are examined.
