My wife and I often visit our grandson Aadi who turned one in December last year. He lives in Gurgoan with his parents and their dog, Zara. A few months after his first birthday, we sat in the living room with his parents, while Aadi was playing. His mother noticed that the floor was wet and so was Aadi. She went up to him and pointing at the wet floor exclaimed, ‘What have you done?’

The exchange between Aadi and his mother was extremely interesting. The child looked at his mother and the mother looked at the child. They connected for a moment. A gamut of emotions seemed to run over the child’s face as he looked down at the wet spots on the floor. Momentarily, ...
