Chapter 18. Output

Several years ago the title of this chapter would have been Printing. That was what you did with page-layout documents: You printed them using a desktop printer. Today, however, there are many more choices for publishing your InDesign documents.

Most InDesign files are created as part of the professional prepress process. (For more information on professional printing, see The Non-Designer’s Scan and Print Book by Sandee Cohen and Robin Williams published by Peachpit Press.) You need to know more than just how to print to a desktop printer. You need to know how to make sure your document has been setup correctly. You need to know what files are necessary to send to a print shop.
