Chapter 10. Accentuate the Positive

It could be worse.

How far have we come? Is marketing absolved of sin or is it still tainted? Is anti-globalization justified or just a knee-jerk reaction by traditionalists? Is anti-Americanism just an expression of envy of the sole superpower?

The answers I come up with are not encouraging, but I will try to “accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative,” as Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters suggested at another tense time in international relations, early 1945. Let’s first look at what can be concluded about the three strikes and then I would like to offer some advice for global marketers and consumers.
