Background to the account types

The reason for two different account types is largely historical and relates to how Oracle have developed their cloud offering. The accounts types are presented as:

  • Cloud Account with Identity Cloud Service
  • Traditional Cloud Account

Over time we can expect to see the Traditional Cloud Account to become unavailable. The Cloud Account with Identity Cloud Service is also sometimes referred to UCM (referring to the new accounts can use the Universal Credit Management approach to pay for cloud services).

With the new model comes the provision of limited version of the IDentity Cloud Service (IDCS) cloud service. The Traditional Cloud Account does not provide this and offers different more restrictive model.
