In the ideal view of PaaS, the amount of storage needed for the database supporting the API platform shouldn't be a consideration, as part of the PaaS ideal is that these problems are abstracted away. However presently this isn't the case. As shown previously, we are aware of the underlying elements such as storage.
How much storage to allocate is a difficult value to judge as the key drivers are details such as:
- Number of APIs and the amount of change those APIs undergo.
- The number of API calls that are being recorded into the analytics views.
- How much history is needed to be kept.
