Some organizations like to incorporate web proxy tiers within their network to allow traffic to be routed through specific parts of the network where additional security checks can be implemented between the different zones of their network including out to the internet. Proxies may also be used to help shape traffic within an organization to optimize how it travels. To this end API gateway configuration allows for proxies so that the phone home need is not impacted. Proxy support is also provided for the calls to the target API implementations.
