Understanding policies

Policies are a powerful capability provided by the API cloud platform that allow a designer to change the behavior of an API through declarative configuration. They are a collection of statements that are executed sequentially on the request or response of an API, allowing the API designer to secure, throttle, route, or log requests sent to the API. This will result in a request being rejected should policies be contravened. Policies are reusable and can be applied across multiple APIs, independent of the domain in which the API resides.
