Earlier in the chapter we described the idea of Logical nodes as a means to organize our APIs and their deployments. A key decision is how many logical gateways do we need. Several factors can contribute to the decision here, including:
- Number of development, preproduction, and production environments needed, based on the idea that any policy modifications should be checked before going live. Making live changes can obviously at worst disrupt a service, but worse still accidentally remove security.
