Making Learning Fun

Contemporary culture often mocks school as a prison or madhouse. Even if these comments come in the form of jokes, training and learning programs sometimes get a bum rap in the minds of learners, even those who are highly motivated adult learners. Malcolm Knowles (1990) claims that adults learn best when they feel in control, when they are able to learn by doing, and when they see the reason for the learning. Few in the business world have read Knowles’ book, but applying some of the principles in this book could make a big difference in any organization’s understanding of learning.
