In this appendix, you will find detailed descriptions of some important applications available today. The market research firm Gistics lists 616 “DAM solution providers” and 1246 “Knowledge Asset Management solution providers” in its 2005 report on the DAM market. Of course, it is way beyond the scope of this book to look at all of them, and it wouldn’t make sense to do so either. Since this book focuses on you, working in an advertising or web agency, at a game producer, or in 3D animation, most of the systems listed by Gistics are of no interest to you. Therefore, we’ve picked the applications that we think can help you improve the way you work.
