MOOD BOARDS
A mood board is a collage of inspirational images, text, swatches, or samples of objects in a composition, which aid in previsualization and the communication of an artistic idea that has yet to be created. It may be physically or digitally created. For the artist, it’s an opportunity to research and flesh out ideas, see what has been previously created, gather new concepts to try, and have an overall roadmap when on set. It’s a wonderful way to round out the brainstorming and research process.
My mood boards typically have examples for mood, lighting, color palette, styling, hair and makeup, props, locations, subject poses and expressions, set design, styling, etc.
