CURATION OF INSPIRATION

Beyond life experiences, the visual input that you consume has a big influence, consciously and subliminally, on the work that you produce. As Austin Kleon says in Steal Like an Artist, “GARBAGE IN. GARBAGE OUT.” Seek out those kindred-spirit artist role models who excite and inspire you with work that you love. Soak up work that, inexplicably, you find you must look at over and over again. Refer back to the characteristics of artwork you are drawn to when thinking about strong imagery, as described in Chapter 1.
