6. Gradient Effects
Your eyes are attracted to areas of brightness, color, and detail. Take a look at any photo around you and note where your eyes naturally fall. You are likely to notice the bright areas of color with interesting detail without paying too much attention to what is going on in the shadows or blurred parts of the image until you consciously take notice of those areas. Photographers use this knowledge to subtly enhance the primary subject of an image by deemphasizing the brightness, sharpness, and color of the less important areas of the image.
