Delphinus is a small equatorial constellation, ranking 69th in size among the 88 constellations. It covers 189 square degrees of the celestial sphere, or about 0.5%. Despite the fact that the brightest stars in Delphinus are only of the fourth magnitude, Delphinus is quite prominent because it lies in a region of the sky that is devoid of bright stars.
