Appendix A

Sources of Guidance

This appendix helps you find further information from various sources. I include reference material from the official standard-setters, articles from professional bodies, other publications referring to IFRS and International Standards on Auditing (IAS) as well as guidance on where you can ask questions and receive answers (many for free – bonus!).

On the Web

Here are some helpful websites that contain information that helps you comply with IFRS and IAS and keeps you up to speed with the latest developments in the world of financial reporting.

Accountancystudents.co.uk

The website www.accountancystudents.co.uk largely caters for people who are studying accountancy but also contains information that’s relevant to qualified accountants. This site is an independent website for students of all the major professional bodies such as ICAEW/ACCA/AAT and such like. You can find lots of technical articles on IFRS and IAS and articles on the best way to approach and pass professional examinations.

In addition, the website contains links to other interesting websites where you can get the latest news on IFRS, such as Accountancy Age and AccountancyProfession.com. Also, if you’re struggling with a particular aspect of IFRS or IAS that I haven’t covered in this book, simply register for free and post a question in the discussion forums where someone’s bound to know the answer and point you in the right direction.
