In Chapter 6, we discuss how to define and design the future state of an IAM solution to adequately prepare for the build, test, and implementation stages. We introduce an approach that iteratively builds on an initial conceptual design with more granular levels of detail until an actionable design is achieved and documented. The future state definition and design concepts described in this chapter include defining the vision and guiding principles, developing the conceptual and detailed architecture, and determining the organizational definition required to support the target IAM solution.
