In Chapter 1, “The Stages of Idealized Design,” we explained the stages involved in a successful idealized design. However, there is more to making the process work for you than just undertaking the process in defined stages. Our experience in assisting managers implement idealized designs has taught us the importance of organizing the process for an optimum outcome.
In this chapter, we describe who should be involved, the frequency and duration of design sessions, facilitators, recording the sessions, procedural rules, constrained and unconstrained designs, consensus design, and conference facilities and equipment.
