INTEGRITY

Corning is a corporation that has clearly spelled-out values that steer both large-scale external actions and everyday internal activities. Values are displayed throughout its offices and plants, are discussed by top leadership and middle management alike, and are lived. My creation of values for our groups was not meant as an act of independence but, rather, as a way of bringing concordance between specific values and mission to a group. In this way, values become the foundation for the culture of the group. I made it very clear that within our groups, living the Corning values was taken for granted. No need for duplication.

I made, though, one exception to this unnecessary doubling up, and it was to include integrity—the bottom line ...
