Configuration Management

As discussed in earlier chapters, there is a distinction in WebSphere between operational administration and configuration administration. You can use the MBeans in any running server to control the operation of the system. As we have just seen, you can get and set attributes and invoke operations to control the behavior of the system. However, such operational changes do not affect the persistent configuration of the system. The WebSphere administration API provides a configuration service as the means for managing the system configuration.
