WebSphere Version 5 Configuration Repository

As mentioned previously, Application Server's configuration data is stored in a set of XML documents. Although you typically will not need to manually update or view these files, it is still useful to know the structure and content of these documents. Knowing the configuration repository structure will give you a better understanding of overall system operation. You can modify the configuration files manually; however, unless you know the exact change to make, you should use the administrative tools to modify the configuration files because they can validate changes made to the configuration.
