Troubleshooting Caching Problems

Several tools are useful for troubleshooting caching problems. At the application server, detailed traces can be obtained by using the powerful WAS trace facility. This can be enabled by selecting any of the cache groups under the trace configuration page or by using the generic trace string com.ibm.ws.cache=all=enabled. In analyzing a trace file, you can view the decision process for placing and serving cache entries and often the reasons that they are not behaving as expected. Remember that a trace facility also exists at the plug-in so tracing can be done there as well by changing LogLevel to “trace” in the plugin-cfg.xml file.
