Process Matters

While we didn't go into every aspect of environment management, we do want to remind the reader of two important items that are often overlooked. First, it is crucial that you define a process for moving between the various environments. This includes, among other things, defining the process for moving an application from the development environment to various testing environments, and finally to the production environment. This should include entrance and exit criteria for each environment as well as defining how an application is rolled back to a prior environment to fix issues found in any particular environment.
