Conclusion

In this chapter, J2EE web technologies and web applications were introduced. Then the WebSphere web container was examined. The web deployment descriptors and the anatomy of WAR files were illustrated. Finally, the reader automated the assembly and deployment of web applications into a WAS build verification environment. Thus far, our applications have been pure web applications with no external resources. In the next chapter, we will examine the use of JDBC in order to create more useful web applications.
