6.8. Assist in proposing and justifying the solution

Often the solution designer is not the individual who is making the solution proposal to the customer. The solution proposal will include many different facets of the bid—the e-business solution being just one of those facets. A key role in this critical phase is to support the team that is vying for the customer’s business. This is done via:

  • Solution mapping.

  • Map the design considerations to the proposal evaluation criteria to ensure the proposal meets or exceeds the customer standards for acceptance.

  • Provide the design expertise to deal with customer objections.

  • Support trade-off and alternative proposals.

  • Assist in justifying the business value of the proposed e-business solution.
