Businesses are often faced with similar hurdles. For example, before the adoption of the Internet, common business-related hurdles included:

  • Communication

  • Distribution

  • Acquisition of information

  • International boundaries

Before attempting to identify the most appropriate e-business pattern for your client, you should already have an understanding of the following:

  • Business problem to be solved

  • Current application and data configuration

  • Installed runtime products

  • Available skills

  • Quality of service required
