I first saw June Corley’s type sculptures as I was leaving TypeCon last summer and made a very spontaneous purchase about ten minutes before I left for the airport. About a week later, an intricate, lovingly packaged box arrived at the office containing a large, smiling type man with a head made out of a DC voltmeter. He’s lived on the bookcase across from me since then, occasionally sporting a baseball cap. He’s everything I love; type as signage, and reclaimed objects (meaning junk)—all on a pedestal. He is found art.

And like tramp art and outsider art, there’s just something unpretentious and homey about him, like he has a story to tell.
