Chapter Eleven

Horizontal Well Multistage Completion Techniques

Abstract

The main techniques currently used in the oil and gas industry to complete shale reservoirs including conventional plug and perf and sliding sleeve are explained. Next, composite bridge plug, stack fracing, zipper fracing, and simultaneous fracing are considered. The advantages and disadvantages of the sliding sleeve technique are presented along with brief discussions on single and multi entry-point frac sleeve and hybrid designs. The chapter continues with detailed discussions on frac stage spacing, shorter stage length, and cluster spacing. At the end of this chapter, the concept of refract is elaborated.
