Abstracting Complexity in the Cloud

In the emerging world of cloud computing, platforms will be much more abstracted. The level of complexity will not be reduced, but the complexity will be managed at an infrastructure level rather than at a tool level. This means that there will be a central way to manage configurations and versions. There will be more centralization of core functions that are leveraged across hybrid environments. Fewer moving parts that are subject to human error will help transform IT into a smoother computing utility in a much more dynamic fashion. These changes will not happen overnight, but looking forward, IT must adopt goals and strategies that promote the automation of the complexity that leads to unintended consequences and errors.
