The typical enterprise utilizes many applications. Some of these may be large, monolithic legacy applications that are built in-house and customized. There may be smaller homegrown applications, too. You might use packaged enterprise applications for ERP and business intelligence. You may even be using SaaS applications purchased from a service provider. There’s also a good chance that, if you’ve embraced the cloud as an organization, you’ll make the decision to actually build some new applications that will run in it.

You may want to work with your partners via a cloud service or even deploy some cloud-based applications specifically for your sales team. In this chapter, we examine how to build, deploy, and manage applications in the cloud and for the cloud.
