PART II Foundations for human-centred leaders

A map for your life

The aim of Part II is to provide you with a high-level map that you can use throughout your life, along with some tools to help you on your journey as a human-centred leader. It will offer a process for constructing the elements of your own map, and ‘instructions' for living in accord with that map, creating the foundations for Human-Centred Leadership.

Chapter 5 challenges you to become the best version of yourself, recognising that you do this in relationship with other people. We will then address the four key questions:

Here: Where are you today?

Before you start out on a journey it's important to be clear where you are starting from, or where you are standing today. Lack of clarity about your starting point creates just as much aimlessness as lack of clarity about where you are going. Chapter 6 will help you reflect on and explore your current situation, and in particular answer the question ‘Where are you standing?'

There: Where are you going?

Your destination answers the question ‘Why are you on this planet?' or ‘What is your unique contribution?' It is your purpose, your final goal, the place from which you will look back and see the impact of your life on the lives of others and on the world. Chapter 7 introduces the powerful concepts of Beauty, Goodness and Truth, and explains how these lie beyond your destination.
