Development environments – getting a free IDE

Throughout this module, I've often referred to developing code in an IDE, or integrated development environment. The IDE is the toolset of the developer to create and manage code. There are many out there, free and paid, which you can use to help produce good code. Which IDE should you choose? That depends on a number of factors. Cost would be an important factor; Visual Studio can cost hundreds of dollars, and even more for additional auto-suggest plugins. The expensive IDEs are great as long as someone else is paying for them!
