A.3. CSS and JavaScript

When you combine XHTML, JavaScript and CSS, you get something called Dynamic HTML , or DHTML . Many people mistakenly believe that DHTML is a technology. It's not. It's a term used to refer to the potential for high levels of interactivity (dynamism) in pages generated using (X)HTML.

Many books have been written about DHTML. Without any doubt, in my opinion, the best of breed is my friend Danny Goodman's massive Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Guide, 2nd Edition, published by O'Reilly. This 1,400-page volume not only provides wonderful tutorials and insights into the workings of all the technologies that comprise DHTML, but also includes an exhaustive, 99% accurate reference to all the arcana as well.
