Back at the start of the Information Age, as the personal computer was just being introduced as a household appliance, prognosticators had all kinds of predictions of how these devices — and the Internet — would change our lives. One prediction was that by now we'd all be taking advantage of the paperless office. The forests would finally get a break when we all stopped using so much paper.
