Selecting a Tool for Creating Web Pages

There are two broad types of tools for creating Web pages:

• Editors. Programs in which you create plain text files and manually enter the code for each HTML tag, such as Notepad.

  

• Converters. Programs in which you create formatted documents and then allow a built-in converter to create the HTML tags for you, such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft FrontPage.

  

If you are serious about learning HTML, you should use an editor. It’s slower and not as much fun, but it’s great training. This book assumes you are using Notepad ...
