Installation Plans and Procedures

The physical installation of an integrated home system normally involves running wires between the centralized controller unit and the various system interface modules. Historically, the daisy-chaining of wiring between user interfaces was a common occurrence. This is now considered an obsolete method of wiring a home for low-voltage circuits and has largely been superseded by cabling systems that comply with the ANSI/TIA/EIA 570-A standard. This standard specifies that each low-voltage interface connection point needs to have a cable run back to a centralized distribution panel.
