Automated home configuration and settings topics discussed in the following sections include user access programming with a computer for remote keypads, sensors, and time-of-day settings.

User Access Programming

The programmable type of remote keypad can be used for many automated home features. Gone are the complicated program macros of other universal remotes. Instead, the owner uses a PC equipped with a USB port connection. A CD-ROM drive, a Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP operating system, Internet access, and a minimum of 10MB of hard drive space are also required to configure the remote keypad.
