HVAC systems require you to be trained in the procedures for connecting the heating and cooling components and understanding the features of automated thermostats and HVAC cabling. This section covers physical connections between controlling devices and the equipment being controlled using communications cable and termination points designed for HVAC systems.

Communicating Thermostats

A communicating thermostat integrates the control functions of a modern automated HVAC system with the external computer interface, such as X10 or CEBus controller software. The connectivity wiring for a typical communicating thermostat is shown in Figure 6.18.
