Step 12: Revise

The real world seldom runs as smoothly as a plan. Several issues may prompt a revision of the HPI scorecard, or the organization or a key business unit may change its scorecard measures. Such events may prompt an HPI scorecard revision if that change impacts a key measure in the HPI scorecard. Document when and why changes were necessary.

You may need to change the HPI scorecard if key data is unduly difficult to collect. Creating data collection processes is expensive and time consuming, particularly if the data benefits only the HPI department. Rather than creating a data collection bureaucracy, consider revising the scorecard metric to use existing or more easily obtained data.
