Chapter 15. Configuring and Using Networking

Introduction

In this chapter I configure LAN cards and use various networking commands. If you don't know the basics of UNIX networking please see the previous chapter, which covers UNIX networking background. In this chapter I focus on identifying and configuring LAN cards and use of many networking commands. The following is a bullet list of the topics I cover in this chapter:

  • Configuring LAN Adapters (Identify LAN adapters, use set_parms to configure, and manually configure)

  • Commonly Used Networking Commands, such as ping, netstat, route, ifconfig and others

  • ARPA Services
