Part TWO. Install, Update, and Recovery
Every HP-UX administrator is now keenly aware of the use of Software Distributor commands such as swinstall to pull software across the network. In this section, we take the discussion further than simply setting up a software depot; we look at pushing software across the network using Software Distributor as well as Ignite-UX. We look at setting up Ignite-UX repositories, Golden Images, and the old chestnut of patches, what their role is, where to get them from, patch rollback, and committing patches. We conclude by looking at using our Install media for recovering a system without resorting to a complete installation of the operating system, a feature known as the Recovery Shell.
